Gain an advanced level of language proficiency and an understanding of the culture of France and French-speaking countries.
Today, 320 million people speak French as a first or second language. French is also an official language of the United Nations, UNESCO, NATO, and the International Court of Justice, as well as the International Red Cross. It is one of the main languages of the European Union and used across government, law, and business in many regions of the international community.
Knowledge of a foreign language has become indispensable in today’s economic and political interdependence of nations. By pursuing a minor or concentration in French, you’ll gain an advanced language proficiency and deepen your understanding of the culture, customs, and professional norms of France and French-speaking countries.
Improve your cross-cultural understanding and international awareness by spending a full semester abroad in Aix-en-Provence. Through this immersive experience, you can also complete an internship with a local company and gain hands-on experience using your French language skills. You can also choose a short-term, faculty-led program at the start or end of a semester.
