Financial Markets Center

The Financial Markets Center (FMC) is a true experiential learning laboratory for students interested in careers in the finance industry.

The space is designed for two modes: classroom and market. In classroom mode, instructors, guest speakers, and students can present content to screens and monitors on the front and side walls. In market mode, the room displays real-time financial market data and news with a live ticker visible on the outside of the room.

The FMC provides faculty and students with the most up-to-date data and analytical tools in the financial services industry, including widely utilized financial software from Bloomberg, FactSet, MSCI, and Morningstar. Students can access these resources both in class and outside of scheduled classroom time for course projects, honors theses, and internships.

Highlights

Students benefit from cutting-edge technology and equipment such as:

  • 30 student workstations with dual screens and specialized software.
  • Instructor station featuring specialized software and the ability to control displays throughout the room.
  • Additional workstations that are dedicated Bloomberg terminals.
  • Dual large screen monitors on each side wall.
  • Monitors on the front presentation wall and a central whiteboard complex.

“

“The new Financial Markets Center is quickly becoming a centerpiece within the Finance Department. Its location adjacent to casual gathering spaces and Finance faculty offices reinforces the ability to have learning happen both during and outside formal class meeting times. Student and faculty research is supported by access to the data and specialized analytical tools available in the lab.â€
