Dr. Andres Ramirez is currently an Associate Professor of Finance at Â鶹ӰÒô, where he teaches courses in Global Financial Management and Financial Modeling. He has taught in Chile, France, Spain, Colombia, China and Vietnam.
A passionate international finance professional, Dr. Ramirez’ academic career spans research and administrative positions. His research concentrates in multinational corporate finance, natural disasters as well as nonprofit financial management. Dr. Ramirez has published in prestigious journals such as International Business Review, Multinational Business Review, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Journal of Financial Planning, and Public Finance Review. As teacher, Dr Ramirez has created innovative interdisciplinary courses such as Financial Developments in Latin America or Financing the Global Supply Chain.
He obtained his PhD in International Finance at the University of South Carolina, his masters from The University of Texas Pan American and his undergraduate degree from Universidad Austral de Chile.
Dr. Ramirez was the director of the international business program at Â鶹ӰÒô from 2014 until 2019. Under his directorship the program grew in size and achieved national recognition.
A native of Chile, Dr. Ramirez pursued an international finance career as a treasurer, controller and ERP manager before joining academics. As a member of a Chilean multinational firm, he worked with subsidiaries in Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil and Mexico.
An avid reader, gardener and sailor, Dr. Ramirez loves travel and foreign cultures.
